Post Thanksgiving on the Los Robles trail

by Rob Blue on November 24th, 2006

It never ceases to amaze me the shear number of great trails we have in the Los Angeles area. You might not think of Los Angeles as being a mountain biking place but there really is some great riding here.

Today Mikel and I were getting in some easy post Thanksgiving miles. Yes, I ate way too much on Thanksgiving. I had all the bad stuff and drank too. If I was a die hard roadie I would be heading straight to bad diet hell.

I have only ridden a small part of the Los Robles trail in the past but I knew that it ran much further. It sure does keep going and it is a blast to ride. Lot’s of winding single track going up and down the Santa Monica mountains. Mikel says a few of those sections have a good “pucker factor”. He’s right about that. You just have to get off the brakes and plow down a few of those descents. Exciting and rewarding, especially when the whole ride is crash free.

I wish I would have remembered to turn the lockout on my fork off before the last downhill. I was wondering why I was bouncing all over the place. Lucky for me there is a blowoff that soaked up the big hits. That last descent was pretty awesome with the fork being able to do it’s job.
