Goodies from Crank Brothers

Let the holiday season begin! I just got a box of goodies from our friends at Crank Brothers. Even the boxes that the pedals come in have a cool design.
I got a customized set of 2Ti Egg Beaters that have the short Ti spindles added. They go well with the look of my FRM 2×9 cranks.

I dig the Egg Beaters so much that I have ditched the pedals on my road bike and put my old set of modified 3Ti Egg Beaters with short Ti spindles on it.
All of this pedal swapping is a good time for a little routine maintenance. The Egg Beaters are so easy to care for it is not a big deal at all. All you need is the supplied grease fitting adapter, a grease gun and a screw driver.

The steps are:
1) Remove the Egg Beater end cap with a screw driver.

2) Screw on the grease fitting adapter.

3) Squirt some grease through the pedals until it start coming out the other end. I like to put enough through them until the grease starts coming out clean.

4) Remove the grease fitting and screw the end cap back on and you’re ready to go.
A bit of advice on installing pedals, especially titanium ones. Makes sure to grease the threads and don’t over tighten them. It’s a real drag when people over tighten their pedals to the point that you need to take a mallet to the wrench to free them up. You should be able to loosen them by hand. As long as you maintain your bike on a regular basis you won’t have to worry about your pedals falling off the bike while you’re riding.

I cant wait to get those 2Ti pedals on my Scott Spark! Black on Black baby! I suppose the Reba WC in black would look tight too.
