Evomo at Sea Otter Day 1
by Bryan on April 12th, 2007
What a day. We headed out to the Laguna Seca Raceway where the massive Sea Otter Classic is being held. The weather started out breezy and ended up windy. What a drag. The wind never let up and it wreaked havoc on everyone. It was sunny all day so I guess I’ll take the wind over rain which we had last year. The days started out quite slow as everyone was putting the finishing touches on their booths and picked up a bit more as more racers showed up.
We were showing off a few new things like the Evomo mens t-shirt called “flight”. Its very cool and has a lot of nice details like the embroidered appliqué effects combined with the graphic prints. Its a shirt worth seeing in person to appreciate the details.

Some of Evomo’s best friends stopped by to say hello including Mary and Brendan from Siren Bicycles. Mary showed off the new Siren Fifty Five which is a (light weight) hard tail that has a 29inch front and 26inch rear. It rides real, real smooth!

Evomo Team Sponsor Tifosi is here and I checked out the Dolomites. One word describes these shades: BOSS. Yeah, I know… I am bringing that word back - its about time. “Rad” is done and so is “sick” - the Tifosi Dolomites are definitely boss. I am going to get some in Matte Black to match my new matte black helmet and soon to arrive some day black Scott Spark. Speaking of Scott, I need to go find Niki Gudex.

Evomo DH Team rider Shea Jordan was pimping some Evomo Team threads while he did his practice runs on the downhill course here. Apparently he said the run is “Freaking awesome!”

Kenda makes tires and we like their tires. I mean they actually MAKE tires, not just stick their name on some rubber thing with knobs. The trick this weekend if you are a cross country racer is try the Small Block 8 in the rear and the Nevegal in the front. Small Block 8’s are super fast with nice traction. Nevegals have wider spaced knobs and really seem to grab in the corners. Big thanks to Jim at Kenda for all his generous support.

24 hour racer and celebrity mountain bike blogger Jeff Kerkove was representing the German company Ergon. I had a chance to take a look at the grips Ergon makes. More importantly I got to hold and touch the grips… this is key! Ever since reading Jeffs blog and finding out he was going to Ergon I was very interested to get my hands on some grips of theirs. The Ergon P1 Grips are amazing. So soft and they fit in the palm of your hand like they were perfectly molded to your hand… I can’t wait to get them on my bike put them to the test.

Evomo DH Team Rider Brett Miller was hanging out with us while he was touring the course. This guy is amazing. He is a U.S. Army/Iraq War Veteran who got nailed with an IED while driving his hummer on some desert road in Iraq. He has some sort of pin in his leg and all kinds of other broken parts in his body that they had to fix. He was in coma for like 2 months. Now he is downhill mountain bike racing! Can you say super-human!

Our neighbors Brave Soldier are really cool guys. Considering how much we are in the sun its key to have the Solar Shield sunblock.

…and one of my favorite XC and super D pro racers, Adam Craig was hanging out.
