Evomo Rider Profile: Jami Pellegrino
by Bryan on June 6th, 2007
Jami Pellegrino is one of Evomo’s star Downhill Mountain bikers that has been hitting the local DH race scene and making a name for himself. Thanks to his Dad, who started Adventure Components - a mountain bike company, Jami got exposed to racing and the seed was planted at an early age of 3. He is an all around SoCal “kid” who besides mountain biking likes to get some dirt jumping, moto and even surfs and skates. What doesn’t this guy do!
We had a chance to ask the star mountain biker a few questions recently and it goes a little something like this…
EVOMO: What is your favorite trail to ride and what features do you like about it?
JAMI: Id say knapps castle in santa Barbara. It’s a blast to ride, super fast, flowy and awesome corners.
EVOMO: What has been your best finish in racing and what do you think contributed to that finish?
JAMI: My best finish was first at the Southridge challenge in 2006. That was cool because I had just gotten into racing and that showed me how good I already was. That really got me into it.
EVOMO: So you picked up a couple new Foes bikes, what model(s). How have those been working out for you and what in particular do you like about the Foes?
JAMI: Yeah, I picked up 2 of the 2:1 Monos and a predator hardtail from Brent over at Foes. The Monos are awesome, balanced like no other. It’s by far the best handling bike I’ve ever ridden. Soaks up things I never thought it would. I think the biggest thing I noticed on those bikes is the suspension. I run the Curnutt fork and shock, made by Foes in house. They soak up the little stuff and take the big hits no prob. They also have an unreal amount of adjustment.
EVOMO Is it cool that Foes is a local Southern California brand?
JAMI: Oh, its way cool. Anytime I need anything Foes is just a short drive away, and I can talk to him in person. Not to mention Foes is at most of the Socal races, which is great because I can go over there and talk to him about the bike and the course.

EVOMO: What is your favorite part of your bike and why?
JAMI: My favorite part of the bike is the monocoque frame and the suspension. Like I said, the suspension is bar none and the monocoque frame gives the bike a unique look too.
EVOMO: If you weren’t an amature mountain biker, what would you be?
JAMI: Honestly I would probably be into motocross. I was big into that before I picked up downhill.
EVOMO: What were your thoughts when you first checked out the Evomo brand?
JAMI: I thought it was sick. Definitely a style of its own. I liked it right away, I could tell you guys were off to a great start.
EVOMO: What is your favorite Evomo shirt design and why?
JAMI: Id say I like the Ranger Tee. I like it because its simple and clean, my style.
EVOMO: Since you are just 16 years old, have you found bombing a single track is a lot easier than parallel parking?
JAMI: Uhhh definitely! I just took out some guys trashcan the other day with my moms suburban hahaha
EVOMO: Do you think you will make a career out of mountain bike racing?
JAMI: Id definitely like to. Im hoping to work my way up the ranks and build relationships with all my sponsors. I want to go pro for sure, it’s just a matter of when! We’ll see!
You can see Jami jumping some shit in the latest issue of Mountain Bike Action Magazine. He is wearing the Evomo DH jersey and riding a green Santa Cruz Bullit as part of MB Actions test rides. Also, you will probably find Jami at just about every local DH race including the Southridge Series at Fontana.
