Downhill Hill Training EVOMO Style
by Brett Miller on October 15th, 2007
So Mike “tha last samurai, Mr Miagi” Takahashi and myself decided to finally hit a ride with the road bikes to get some training in and feel out this new ride. So we met up in Folsom and got ready to ride the American river bike trail I had heard that bad little slice of silky smooth 12 foot wide path of roadie bliss was a pretty fun and windy jam down the river but I wasn’t sure what to expect when you are riding with a ninja.

it was 34 miles to old Sacramento and It was fairly easy since most of it was downhill. there was a ton of hotties either joggin or riding and it was more than enough of a distraction to cause me to crash several times, but i was able to recover and keep my wits.
we had a bite to eat at the river city brewing company down by old sac and tossed back a few rum and cokes for the big push back up the hill

we saddled up and headed back for the 34 miles return and i had flexed my superior intelligence and used some wise desicion making ability and decided to sprint on mile 35 of a 68 mile trip. it wasn’t quite the smartest thing i have ever done but than again, i have never been accused of being smart. so we rode all the way back with gnarly cramps and and mike riding circle around me.
It had been a late start for us so by the time we were about 20 miles out it had gotten dark. and we didn’t bring lights so we were running by brail on the trail. i know a few times when we were bombing down some of the steep stuff i was in my top rings so we had to be doing at least 30 - 35 mph but i couldn’t see my computer and I was hoping there wasn’t anyone coming the other way.
it all turned out pretty good with a 68 mile total for the trip and 4100 feet of climbing. I would say it is good training.

You know you got skills if you can take a picture that cool while on a bike. Samurai or Ninja for sure.
