Iceman Cometh Race Report
by Bryan on December 16th, 2007
The 18th annual “IceMan Cometh Challenge” mtn. bike race was held on November 10th in Northern lower Michigan. The event is a 27.5 mile point to point race from Kalkaska to Traverse City, MI. There was over 2500 competitors this year!
It was a ideal Michigan day…..with mostly sunny skies and a high of 45 degrees
The course was mostly hard packed dirt(bummer no SNOW this year!!) with a few sand pits to swallow up your bike. Throw in some killer hill climbs, tight and twisted single tracks thru the HARD wood forest, and you have a recipe for some fast and awesome mtn. biking, Michigan style.

I competed in the 40-44 beginner men class, and finished lucky number 13 out of 52 racers, with a time of 2:30:19!! I was hanging in the top 6 until a revengeful branch threw off my chain for me…….grrrrrrr!!
But fun was had by all, and i felt kinda special being the “one rider” supportin’ the EVOMO jersey;)
See Ya, Dave

Nice to see fellow EVOMO riders battling it out here in the midwest. Great job and I hope to get in next year it’s going to a lottery like chequamegon.
