Let it Snow
by Evomo Sponsored Rider on February 25th, 2008
Saturday morning. A 5:30 am wake-up call, outside the temp of a crisp 16 degrees…………A perfect day for a mountain bike race
I’m off to Lake Orion High School (30 miles north of Detroit) for the first annual Charity Winter Mtn. Bike Race.
The race started at high noon, and the 50+ riders were greeted with sunny skies and a steamy 22 degrees!
The course was a short 3.4 miles thru the Bald Mountain Rec. area, located behind the school. The course had to be snow blowed out Friday, due to the heavy snow which came thru earlier that week.
I raced the sport class, so i was to ride two laps, 6.5 miles………….A piece of cake, or so i thought!?!
With a few nICE steep downhills, unrideable uphills, people falling left and right (myself included) and OH-YEAH, SNOW! made for a fun event.
I did finish 6th in my class, but even if i was dead last, i’d still be smilin’, cause this was one of those memorable rides that was just out right FUN………And FUN is why we ride in the first place!!………..Right?!
Later, Dave
