Fontana Southridge Race Report
by Bryan on February 29th, 2008
Last weekend Evomo was in effect at the Fontana Southridge winter series race #4. Saturday ended being a beautiful sunny day with a crisp cool breeze that kept the arm warmers on. Today would be the XC race and DH practice.
As you can see in the photo bellow, turn out was huge!
Brad, Cooper (pictured bellow) and Mr. Bill turn up to give the ole Fontucky course a try.
Rich Houseman’s dad aka “The Cheese” was announcer for the weekend making sure everyone knew when the races were starting and reminding everyone to swing by the vendors, like Evomo!
Some cool cats from Evomo’s Sponsorhouse Athlete squad showed up to slam the downhill. Nibal, Cole, some dude we call Sniper and Dillion all stopped by to show the Evomo flava!
(bellow) Mr. Bill earns his stars with a 4th place finish in mens sport… his 1st Mountain Bike race in over 7 years!
Sunday was a day of light rain and mud. The rain really came down good over night so the course was extra slippery.
Evomo did our part to clothe those who needed some protection from the elements… we gave out about 20 or so FREE Evomo MTB Agent rain jackets to the lucky few who were waiting to load up on the shuttles.
Cole Reichenbach had a decent run as did most of the Evomo guys. The weather definitely had an impact on the times and performance compared to the day before.
Nibal Elias pinned it while wearing the Ball Out t-shirt… even in the wet and icky weather!
and last but not least my friend and Semi-Pro Evomo Racer Willem Cooper came all the way out to SoCal from Rhode Island to race and hang with the dope Evomo crew. Oh and of course the World and National Champion Eric Carter.
As for the Pro DH results:

Chris Kovarik keeps his win streak alive by crushing the competition by over 8 seconds! Rain fell steadily for the first half of the day making for some tough energy absorbing terrain. Even with all the rain the course was still very rideable thanks to the heavy sand content in the Fontana soil. As the day went on the skies cleared and the racers that went later in the day were treated to some sweet conditions.
