Who likes heat and sand?

It was a busy weekend what with the holiday yesterday. After my ride Saturday it was all about the overdue yard work and then on Sunday it was house cleaning in preparation for family coming over.
Saturday morning was all mine though. I headed out to the MacDowell mountain tracks to get ready for the 70 mile marathon race in two weeks. Its three big loops starting out on the competitive track and looping up to the Pemberton trail, all in all it’s 23.3 miles for each loop. I did that twice then a little more to make it an even 50 miles.
The most challenging part to the course is a rock descent down the pemberton and then the numerous sandy washes out there. This little baby is an easy 50 yards of fun.
Travis got off kid watching duty in time to meet up for the second lap. You couldn’t beat the timing because right as I finished my first lop he was at his car geared up and ready to rock. Plus who can beat following this booty around for a few miles?

At this point in the ride we are talking about all the Ergon stuff that should be arriving soon.

We have some serious plans for those packs this summer. Some epic rides lasting all day and loads of climbing are in order.
By the time I got off the bike around 11:30 AM the temperature was already 85 degrees. Anyone racing here is going to feel the pain.
I also got time to talk to a few guys about my favorite shop Focus. They noticed my water bottles in the parking lot and said they had a great experience in the shop. Good to pass along the good word on a good shop.

O yea, my posting on random mountain biking thoughts at the start of the month got some attention. Friday night Shonny Vanlandingham posted to my blog asking for an address to send me a picture to. If you remember I had wished she would do this and I guess we will see if it actually happens or if I am getting jerked around by some douche on the net getting my hopes up just to crush them.

hey Clint… since you seem to have a way with the mountain bike ladies, do you think you can get Willow Koerber to send me a autographed photo?
