Santa Ynez Nationals

Last weekend was the Santa Ynez MTB Nationals… NMBS #3.
Lets just say it was not a big deal… hardly anyone showed up and it was hot. So hot in fact that Georgia Gould pass out on the trail during the womens pro XC race and had to be taken away in ambulance. So hot that there was no one walking around the venue. Although I cant completely blame the heat for the poor attendance, cause it seems that these Nationals in general are getting no one showing up.
A couple good things… Tom Judy took 1st in the Sport DH Race on Sat. Brad Berling snaged a 5th place in Beg XC on Sunday… it was his 2nd MTB race ever.
We hung out with Phil from RideSFO and I met Derek the owner of Bear Valley Bikes - chill dude. Joe from Spinergy chatted with us about some epic rides in the San Deigo area as well. Plus we saw Jim from Kenda and they were blowing out tires for like $10!

11:16 PM, Monday night, just rolled in from Santa Ynez. Just to concure with Dr. Thombs, the Mercury rose, even broke the glass, and that #%#&^!# “HIke-A-Bike” for that last 1/3-mile and 150 feet elevation gain to the start house in triple digit heat for the DH was the teaser that was almost enough to make old GEEZERS fart. But, I held it in long enough to cruise the short fun DH course in 2:34, with a beer (scratch that, a Yuengling Traditional “Since 1829″ Lager) in one hand courtesy of Dr. Thombs. After all, no reason to run it fast cause no one else in my age division wanted to Tango on the Tierra Firma this hot, HOT, did I mention it was FU#@*$(@()$KING HOT weekend.
Well, good news was, this makes my 3rd Podium in 4 races as an unOFFICIAL TEAM EVOMO RIDER. I say unofficial, because somehow I don’t exist on this Website TEAM Profile as an “official” Team EVOMO Rider !! Well, that’s OK with me gang, stay tuned cause, me and the DR. (Thombs) are working on something “Sepcial” to liven up the Gossip Column, coming to a EVOMO Website near you SOON.
