Evomo Rider Profile: William Scharney
by Evomo Sponsored Rider on January 13th, 2009
17 year old Will Scharney, or just Scharn, is an epic downhill rider with the confidence of James Bond and balls of steel. Evomo first met Scharn at the Sea Otter last April in 2008. He was a humble kid and clearly enjoyed racing mountain bikes and probably loved just going out and ripping it even more. Will’s friends think he has huge potential to go pro, but he thinks its going to take more work. We wouldn’t be surprised if one day Sam Hill is getting his ass whooped by Scharney. Lets just hope its while wearing an Evomo jersey!

EVOMO: whats your current bike set up?
SCHARN: My current bike setup is a 2009 Custom Mongoose Boot’r Frame with X-Fusion Vector shock and a Ti-Coil. And Up front I’m rockin’ 2008 Marzocchi 888 RC-3s. Basically I love everything about this bike right now, because it can take the big hits and is still under 41 lbs, which is rather convenient.
EVOMO: Whats your favorite trail?
SCHARN: Favorite trails are pretty much anything in Whistler B.C…. like Freight Train to Dirt Merchant into lower A-Line. But locally it has gotta be Carlmont in Belmont, CA….Lots of big hits, but not much trails, lots of fun.

Will Scharney flashes some wicked style!
EVOMO: Whats the best thing about NorCal, is it the fine ladies and the great night life?
SCHARN: Best thing about NorCal is….uhhhh, well the best thing about Canada is Whistler….But NorCal, I guess my girlfriend lives there so yeah, The best thing about NorCal for me is #1 My Girlfriend, #2 Northstar, and #3 well thats all I can think of.
EVOMO: How does the mountain bike scene work into high school?
SCHARN: I go to an all guys high school….but my girlfriend thinks that DH is pretty sick…but before I met her, the stuck up rich girls didn’t really think much of it. Once a girl told me that all biking pictures looked the same, then I told her to shut up and that every picture of her sitting in front of her Macbook looked the same, and I never heard from her again!

EVOMO: Do you train much?
SCHARN: SPINNING CLASSES!!! I know they are kinda girly, but they work! I can do hour long climbs on my DH bike now, and my legs are so much stronger.
EVOMO: What other things do you enjoy besides mountain biking?
SCHARN: Outside of mountain biking I really enjoy just living it up, not into parties or drugs and alcohol, at all actually. I just like thinking of new ways to have fun with my riding buddies after it gets dark and we can’t ride, weather it’s paint balling or what not, but I also enjoy hanging out with my girlfriend, and avoiding homework.

Will's #1 rule, Always ride with style!
EVOMO: What were your thoughts when you first checked out the Evomo brand?
SCHARN: I first saw Evomo back in 2007 at a CHDH race, and I had already met Brett Miller, at Carlmont, and I thought Brett’s a beast so his team must be a beast….and that’s a fact! Then at the Sea Otter I got hooked up on the team, thanks Brett!
EVOMO: What is your favorite Evomo shirt?
SCHARN: I like the Ranger thermal, it’s pretty sick and I like the logo on it a lot.

Evomo Ranger Thermal Defends you against mad spills
EVOMO: What would Jesus do?
SCHARN: Jesus would help me when I pray….Like the other day I though I lost a parking ticket that I had to pay, but I prayed and I somehow found it under a pile of clothes in the garage about 5 minutes later….Jesus hooks it up!

Will Scharney uses mad skills to defy gravity.
EVOMO: Whats the deal with Pink Bike?
SCHARN: It’s fun to piss people off and they get all offended. But I would say I use it more than myspace and facebook because it keeps me connected to the biking world, and I can try and make a name for myself there.
