EVOMO: whats your current bike set up?
LUND: I use my Turner Nitrous for the 12 and 24 hour races it’s set up to be light yet take the abuse you can only experience during a 300 mile race. I also have a Gary Fisher Sugar as my enduro back up bike, Redline Monocog 29er singlespeed I use for short xc races, and finally the Redline D440 1×9 I have set up as cross/commuter bike.

EVOMO: Whats your all time favorite trail to ride?
LUND: Underdown near Tomahawk Wisconsin. For the fact that I love climbing this place has that and more. It’s located in a thick forest in the middle of nowhere. To me this is what mountain biking is all about.

EVOMO: When did you first get into mountain biking?
LUND: I used to run cross country and long distance track in high school. A few years after I graduated I got the itch to compete again and began running. From there tendinitis kicked in and while trying to find a way to get my competition fix without the knee issues, I found the WORS series back in 2005 and I was hooked ever since.

EVOMO: What has been your best finish in racing and what do you think contributed to that finish?
LUND: My best finish was last season at the WEMS Series Stump Farm 12 where I had taken 1st overall in the 12 hour solo division. I think there were a couple of factors that allowed this to happen. I rode consistently close lap times and spent no more than a total of 5 minutes in the pits. As the season progressed, I was spending less and less time in the pits and more time on the course the payoff was better results towards the end of the long season. (4 top 3′s in my last 5 races)

EVOMO: What is your favorite part of your bike?
LUND: I would say it’s a tie between my Ergon grips and Titec gel saddle. Whether it’s 2 hours or 30 hours, it’s because of these two items that my hands and ass don’t go completely numb.

EVOMO: What is your favorite Evomo shirt design?
LUND: The Venom is my favorite I like how the blood overlays the graphics of the rattler looks real plus the quote “I ride till my veins pump battery acid and then I ride some more” is accurate to how I approach training and racing.

The Evomo Venom shirt is made from 100% Naturaly Organic Southwestern Rattle Snake nut sacks woven together.

EVOMO: I hear the cheese in Wisconsin is off the hook, whats the best kind?
LUND: Cheese curds from any of the booths during the 4th of July parades. Otherwise any cheese shop along the freeway or backroad has something different for everyone.

EVOMO: Whats the best beer in WI?
LUND: Point Oktoberfest during the fall and Point Nude Beach during the summer as they are seasonal beers.

EVOMO: Since it get as cold as space (where no one can hear you scream) do you ride when its that cold? Whats the coldest you will go before saying, ‘no way’?
LUND: The lowest possible temperature I will ride in would have to be 0 degrees cause with the wind chill it can get to be slightly dangerous. Every once in a while I’ll bring the ruckus on the snowshoe trails but it needs to be less than 10 degrees otherwise your tire cuts straight through the snow base.

EVOMO: Why solo 24 hour races?
LUND: Why not? It’s a true test of mind, strength, and endurance where just making it across the finish is an accomplishment in itself. When I got into racing I knew I didn’t have that much power but knew that after completing my first 12 hour duo that this kind of racing seemed to fit my style better.

EVOMO: Does your wife think you are crazy?
LUND: Yeah on a regular basis, but now I don’t have an excuse for shoveling after it snows as she tells me “you can ride a bike for 24 hours straight, why can’t you shovel the snow in the driveway?”

EVOMO: Would you race a stage race like trans-rockies or BC Bike race?
LUND: Absolutely, no question about it if the opportunity presented itself I would be all in also races like the brian head epic and La Ruta would be great places to bring ruckus as well. There’s also another stage race in Colorado that I am looking into as well I think it’s called the Breck Epic.
