Spring season FINALLY done
by Darren on June 18th, 2009
Well the MBAA spring race season is finally over. This past weekend was the Flagstaff finale. This was a very hard race as the previous two weeks I was unable to do any training. Between business travel and a family trip to Mexico. (Margrita training was mandatory). But I made the trip to Flagstaff to make my season offical. Felt fine at the starting line, but after the first 5 miles I was spent (this was a 25 miler so i was in trouble). After the first 3 miles the climb began. The climb is an understatement, more like Mt climbing on a bike. This was a climb of approx 3000 feet in about 4 miles. But I grunted through the pain and finished the race in 7th (out of 8). And ended my season in 6th place so not to bad at all (missed 5th place by 5.5 points).
Since it is summer time and the temps in AZ are hotter than the sun, I can now begin my Margrita training (bringin’ the Rukus in another way). At least for a couple of Months. Then back on the Bike in August to begin training for the Winter season (Dust Devil).
Special thanks to Evomo (of course) but the sponsors that help the Evomo team through-out the season, without them it would be hard to make it though.
Have a great summer all and for those that live in a place (like the rest of the country) where you can still ride in the summer. Have a great time shreddin’ the trails and remember one thing…. BRING THE RUKUS… make sure to sport your Eware where ever you go.
Think About it: The sooner you fall behind, the more time you’ll have to cath up.
