So I got two new SIGG bottles a couple weeks ago. (Thanks SIGG!) If you don’t know who SIGG is, well (in my opinion) they are simply the best manufacture of reusable aluminum water bottles. I love how they have so many bottles with really cool graphics on them. They are like shoes, you want to get one in each color and design!  In fact how cool would it be to have some Evomo graphics on a SIGG bottle, like the Braincase or the Venom!

For 100 years now, SIGG has been making premium water bottles in Frauenfeld Switzerland. Yes they are Swiss, which makes them even better. (They go well with my Victorinox Swiss Army watch and Swiss cheese on my turkey sandwich.)

SIGG has a new line of stainless steel bottles bottles out called Steelworks – which are made in Asia, thus a slightly more affordable bottle has SIGG aluminum bottles run about $16-$24.

Something that SIGG has addressed is the issue of health related leaching that you may have heard about in the news – specifically with plastic bottles. Its a big deal these days. SIGG’s bottles manufactured 2009 and later are guaranteed to be 100% BPA free…everything else is non-leaching…meaning whatever is in the liner does not end up in your drink. Steelworks has no liner…which means the only thing going into the water are traces of nickel and chromium…both found in tap water and multivitamins.

So far I like both and if someone said that the Steelworks will weigh a lot more cause its not the uber cool aluminum, well then I would say to that weight weenie: You must either be climbing Mt. Everest or racing in Le Marathon De Sables in Morocco because its only a 2oz difference in weight which after you fill up 1 liter of water, whats another 2oz?”

These are not really ideal for jamming in your water bottle cage for a mountain bike or road ride, but definitely ideal for camping, hiking, walking, the beach, the park and definitely sitting at work all day in dark, dank cubical staring at a computer screen rotting your eyes out of the back of your head!
