Olympic Mountain Biker Burry Stander Hit & Killed by Taxi

Burry Stander (25) of South Africa was killed Thursday, January 3, 2012, while riding his bike. Reports say he was struck by a taxi van while training near his home in Shelley Beach. Stander was a two-time Olympian, placing 5th in the London 2012 Summer Olympics, and one of the top elite cross country mountain bikers in the world.

It is truly a sad day when another cyclist is hit and killed by a driver of a car or truck. Be careful out there, be careful.

Our condolences go out to Burry Standar’s family.
